After conquering the China, Dangal 'SMASHES' Hong Kong box office too.

The 2016-blockbuster 'Dangal' starring Aamir Khan and directed by Nitesh Tiwari has not only won hearts all over India, becoming the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time, but it has also been conquering the overseas market ever since. After grossing around 205 crores in UAE, USA, Canada, Australia and New-Zealand in the 1st phase of its overseas release, Dangal took the Taiwan and Chinese box office by storm grossing around 41 crores and 1258 crores respectively in its 2nd phase.

After grossing more than 2000 crores worldwide and setting benchmarks for the Indian films all over the globe, Dangal has finally released in Hong Kong two weeks ago and the outcome is completely unsurprising as the film receives a warm response from the people of HK, collecting approximately 19 crores till now.

The film has also released in Tukey on 18th August, becoming the first ever Indian film to collect 1 million Turkish Lira. After 3 weeks in Turkey, it had a total collection of TL 1.085m which is equal to 2.036 crores.

Disney India's Vice President, Amrita Pandey said in a statement,
“It’s overwhelming that even today -- nine months after its release in India, the film dominates the box office wherever it goes -- including in new and relatively uncharted waters like in mainstream Hong Kong. It reinstates our belief that a good story, if made well can connect everywhere.”

Based on the true story of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a father and an amateur wrestler from rural India who goes against all social obstacles to make her daughters world-class wrestling champions, Dangal carries a much needed message of women empowerment, which is also one of the main reasons of its global recognition.
